THE PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Every FANTOM EFFECTS silicone garment is a fabricated artifact — born in our studios, tested under the same standards we apply to cinematic-grade prosthetics.
To preserve integrity, motion, and comfort, proper care is essential.
This guide serves as your field manual for wearing, maintaining, and storing your silicone vests, gloves, and contoured garments.
Each item ships with a detailed Care Card, but this digital guide is your always-accessible reference point.

THE APPLICATION RITUAL
Silicone is alive with texture and tension — to wear it correctly is to understand it.
Before dressing, remove all jewelry, watches, or accessories that could abrade the surface.
To apply your silicone garment, use a lubricant.
We recommend our own FANTOM EFFECTS Application Lubricant, engineered for seamless wear.
A minimal amount is all that’s required — a whisper of motion between skin and form.
Lubricant is essential for fitted silhouettes — leggings, bodysuits, contoured vests, and gloves — ensuring smooth entry and preserving anatomical fidelity.
FX GLOVE APPLICATION PROTOCOL
Roll the cuff of the glove back toward the wrist.
Mist the interior lightly with isopropyl alcohol for glide.
Gently slide your hand in — do not force or pull from the fingers.
Once the hand is seated, unroll the sleeve down the length of the arm.
To remove, reverse the process: roll the cuff down to the wrist and ease your hand out — never tug from the fingertips or edge.
Important: Silicone gloves are designed for fashion and adult use only.
The material is skin-safe and non-allergenic, though use should be discontinued immediately if irritation occurs.
STORAGE PROTOCOL
Silicone garments, like sculptures, demand thoughtful rest.
Store vests on durable hangers or lay flat to retain shape.
Never force gloves over rigid hand forms; instead, slide them over a pool noodle or vertical holder to preserve form and integrity.
Keep away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and dust exposure.
Treat each piece as an engineered instrument — and it will endure like one.
CLEANING SEQUENCE
Silicone cleans easily, but precision matters.
Rinse with warm water and mild liquid soap (dish soap works well).
Pat dry with a towel or allow to air dry completely.
For disinfection, mist lightly with Lysol or isopropyl alcohol, then dry fully before storage.
Never store with residual moisture — silicone remembers.
REPAIR & REINFORCEMENT
Every FANTOM EFFECTS product is cast with embedded elastic fiber reinforcement in stress zones to minimize tearing.
Handled properly, tearing is rare — but in the event it occurs, restoration is possible.

For self-repair:
Use Smooth-On’s SilPoxy adhesive.
Clean the damaged area with rubbing alcohol.
Align torn edges precisely; apply a small bead of sealant, press together, and wipe excess.
Allow full curing before handling.
To stop a running tear, use a hole punch at the tip, then seal.

LIMITATIONS & WARRANTY
Each FANTOM EFFECTS silicone piece is an adult art object, not a toy.
Improper use, storage, or neglect may void repair eligibility.
If a defect arises from faulty manufacture or materials, we will repair or replace accordingly.
Out-of-warranty repairs will incur standard restoration charges after evaluation.
In some cases, we may recommend professional in-studio cleaning or refurbishing, depending on garment condition.
We will always provide written estimates and request approval before proceeding.
